Okay so let's break it down. Great farmhouse design comes from masterfully combining elements. These pictures are full of great examples. Let's start with an amazing vanity, full of texture, patina, and color. Add interesting lighting, a great tile floor and then move on to details. Details such as a gorgeous free standing tub, super cool mirrors, shiplap and moulding or a combination of all of the above. Adding in those great accessories is the icing on the cake. A stunning bathroom that will add beauty and value to your home.

Farmhouse Stairs

Modern Farmhouse is the architectural rage that continues to grow in new construction and in remodels. Builders are looking for unique ways to achieve "the look" through moulding and finishes. What better way to capture the essence of the farmhouse style than the staircase.

When designing the staircase there are many components to keep in mind. Not only are you looking for a unique bannister and handrail but also pay attention to the newel post and your treads and risers. Small details can make all the difference. The focal however, should be designing an amazing stair wall. It's the visual impact that is going to set your home apart from so many others and also leave a lasting impression.

Gather 'Round

Who doesn't love a long, wooden dining room table that the whole family can gather around? The show Fixer Upper has really highlighted the Modern Farmhouse style and one of the major staples of that look is a beautiful farmhouse dining table.

The warm tones of the rustic woods used in a farmhouse table really set the tone for the whole design of the room. One of the great features of a dining table like this is that you dress it up or keep it casual. For a really comfortable look, add some wood back chairs or a long rustic bench. If you want a more refined look, use linen slipcovered chairs and put an amazing chandelier above with a little bling. You can’t go wrong adding some patterned plates or an amazing centerpiece to finish off your farmhouse dining room.

Fall in a Farmhouse

It is that amazing time of year again where we can break out the pumpkins and the autumn wreaths to decorate our homes for the fall season.

There is nothing like the backdrop of a modern farmhouse to display some beautiful fall decor. The charming warm and neutral tones of a modern farmhouse lend very well to the oranges, greens, and whites that we see with the changing of the season. The small added touches of foliage and branches will mix well with the chippy wood and rich textures. Simply changing out some artwork or swapping some pillows are easy ways to transition your space and tweak your color palette for the season. Time to channel your inner Joanna Gaines to get your home ready for fall!

Details of Farmhouse Style

It's certainly not called country and it’s the new favorite of many designers and bloggers… it’s Modern Farmhouse. Yes, Chip and Joanna Gaines have led the resurgence of this comfortable look but actually it has its roots coming from shabby chic and eclectic styles with a modern twist.

So specifically there are a few ways to send you in the right direction designing for a modern farmhouse style. You want to look for furniture pieces that have texture and patina and then pair them with chairs that are slipped covered in a linen, preferably, or pair them with a unique chair that also has texture, like a chair with a cane seat. Colors tend to be in neutral tones with accent colors being soft and muted. Accessories to look for would be glass vases with textural elements carefully arranged, old patina silver, old wood cheese boards or bowls, open shelving and anything really that has an unique look. To top it off, don't forget to add a barn door and a great rug. These are a few tips to get you started but there are so much more. Happy Saturday Y'all!
