Laying Out Your Living Room
Many of us struggle with the layout of the furniture in our homes, especially in our living room. Here are a couple of great tips to give your home that designer look.
First things first, find the focal point of your room. Most of us have a fireplace or built-ins that dictate the orientation of our furniture layout. Another important focal point of any family gathering space is the television. If possible, combine your focal points together by mounting your TV over the fireplace. You will most likely need a tilt-mount so that the TV is at an appropriate height and angle for viewers to comfortably watch. Now that you have established the central point of your room, let’s talk furniture. Pairs of couches are a very practical option for many reasons. The cost of a love seat is usually very similar to the couch so it makes sense to have the extra seating. Position the couches across from each other to encourage conversation. If you have a large family or entertain often, you may want to consider a great sectional to fill your space. Another practical option is to invest in an amazing pair of chairs. The great thing about a pair of chairs is that they are versatile and can add scale to a room. They look great flanking a fireplace or in a grouping with two couches. If you have an open concept living space, consider a bench or a backless daybed to keep your space airy and accessible. Finally, add a rug and some decorative pillows and you will have the finishing touches to your stunning new living space.
