The Columbia House Restaurant
The Columbia House Restaurant opened in Tampa's Ybor City in 1905 by Cuban immigrant Casimiro Hernandez. It is the oldest restaurant in Florida and the largest Spanish restaurant in the world. Because of it's success, the family opened a few more with one located in St. Augustine.
Now run by 4th and 5th generations of the Hernandez family, the Columbia House restaurants continue to thrive not just because of their great ambience but because of their amazing cuisine. Situated right off of St. George's street in the nation's oldest city, you will find this two story gem with its Spanish tiles and fountains. A great place to take out of town guests, celebrate Mother's Day or even a date night destination, the Columbia House is open 365 days a year. While reservations are a must for busy weekends or holidays, do swing by if you are out and about in St. Augustine and don't forget that the Columbia House has been named one of the most romantic restaurants by Southern Living Magazine.
